The Photographic Art Program, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University
The Photographic Art program was established in 1988 as part of the Department of Arts, Media and Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University. The curriculum combines theory and academic study, creativity and practical studies in a 4-year program suitable for any student with a passion for photography. In February 2015, the Photographic Art program hosted the month-long Chiang Mai Photo Festival 2015 (CMPF 2015) with the theme of 'Young ASEAN Eyes'. The festival compiled and exhibited photographic works with a focus on young emerging artists both from within Thailand and around the world. The Photographic Art program recently founded the Chiang Mai House of Photography to be an archival center of Photography. It aims at becoming a hub for data collection, preservation and dissemination of information. The upper floor of the center is a space for temporary exhibitions. There is also a library where information is provided analog and online. The center also offers occasional training and events for the public.
