Chiang Mai Design Awards (CDA)
The Annual Chiang Mai Design Awards (CDA) by Creative Chiang Mai (CCM) is an initiative that aims to promote innovation and creativity across a range of design categories. The CDA focuses on design, often with a contemporary touch, rather than pure art or craft. The purpose is to showcase Chiang Mai and its talent, and to highlight why design is important and adds value. The first Chiang Mai Design Award was launched in 2012 and we are now entering the fourth year.
TEDxChiangMai are independently organized TEDx events operated under license from TED. However, TEDxChiangMai is more than events, it is a platform for ideas worth spreading, a dialogue, a call for action, and a community of people who believe in ideas, creativity, innovation and collaboration. In September each year, a large international creativity and ideas forum “TEDxChiangMai” is held in Chiang Mai (in 2013 more than 500 people attended). In addition, smaller TEDxChiangMaiSalon or TEDxChiangMaiLive events are organized throughout the year. Creative Chiang Mai and CMU STeP are strategic supporters of TEDxChiangMai.

In particular, we focus on events during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) and have organized seminars and supported competitions during the GEW in November each year sine 2011. More information can be found in the About section of our Facebook Group “IT”. The annual activities during the GEW are organized in cooperation with the US Consulate General in Chiang Mai and the Chiang Mai University Science & Technology Park (CMU STeP).
Meedee Depot: Creativity in Education
Promoting creativity in education including schools is an important long-term goal. In 2013, Creative Chiang Mai and CMU STeP supported the participation of several schools (and their students) in the TEDxChiangMai event. Creative Chiang Mai has also been working closely with Meedee Depot, a not-for-profit art learning center on Sirimangalajarn Soi 5. Meedee Depot works with local artists and graduates or students particularly from the CMU Fine Arts Faculty. During the weekend, there is a focus on courses and workshops for young children. During the weekdays and in the evenings, this creative space is used for other activities and seminars by artists or other creatives. We invite other schools, learning centers, and creative groups to work with us.
